WE ARE UNITEDCOLORS OF NAPLES.

An urban visual identity project — Naples

The manifesto

UNITEDCOLORSOFNAPLES ARE THOSE WORDS PRESSED INTO A SHEET OF PAPER, AND NOT ONLY THAT. IT'S ALSO COLOUR TAKING CENTRE STAGE, TAKING THE SHAPE OF ONE-OF-A-KIND OPERA POSTERS, FREE FROM ANY SERIAL FATE.

IT PRESENTS ITSELF AS FOLK ART, FUSING TEXT AND MATTER/COLOUR, AIMING TO BE A POETIC-EXPRESSIVE PROTOTYPE.

Ours aren't industrial prints. They are pieces made by hand. Sometimes we use a beautiful printing press, sometimes a squeegee, old typographic characters, plates, brushes, and plenty of colour.

Real colour, physically applied. We use screen-printing inks, letterpress inks, sometimes intaglio.

And then there's the canvas: we don't use ordinary paper. We choose only noble papers — heavy, matte, embossed. The magnificent Fedrigoni papers, either 390gsm Acquerello or 350gsm Tintoretto.
