What is an Opera Poster?

An Opera Poster by United Colors of Naples is a one-of-a-kind piece of art born from a song, a poem or a line that belongs to you. Not digital prints, but one-of-a-kind pieces of art: every piece is made by hand in our workshop in Spaccanapoli, in the heart of Naples, inside Palazzo Diomede Carafa, on 390gsm Fedrigoni Acquerello paper, with typographic and intaglio inks coloured by hand, pass after pass. Each piece carries the United Colors of Naples blind stamp and a certificate of authenticity, dated and embossed, signed by the artist. You can pick one from the collection dedicated to the great Italian songwriters, such as Lucio Dalla, Fabrizio De André, Lucio Battisti and Pino Daniele, or create your own with the line, colour and size you love (A4, 35×50, 50×70, 70×100 cm), framed by hand if you like. It is ready in 7–10 working days, with free shipping to Italy and most of Europe.

How it is made

01

Typographic Design

The text is composed and balanced by hand, seeking the right rhythm between negative and positive space.

02

Handmade

Letterpress inks on 390gsm Fedrigoni paper. Each pass is unique: the pressure leaves its mark on the back too.

03

Signature and Hallmarking

Each artwork is signed by the artist and embossed with the UCN dry seal.

It's worth knowing

We are not a print shop. We are an artisan workshop in Naples where each work is born from a discussion about the song, the artist's history, and the meaning of those words for those who have experienced them.

Every piece that leaves our workshop is unique. Not for marketing purposes, but by nature: typography is not a perfectly reproducible process. The mark remains.
